Jacobs School of Music composition professor Don Freund teams as pianist with JSoM Performance Diploma violin virtuoso Steven Moeckel (currently concertmaster of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra) to present a wide variety of Freund's violin music spanning 25 years of the composer's output. From the rugged rock'n'roll of Life Goes On to the Bach inspired Sonapartita to the sweet strains of Sonatina—Spring 1967 to Ukrainian Fantasy's encounter with a tape collage of folk musicians, Moekel captures the drama, lyricism, wit and distinctive character of Freund's violin writing in definitive performances brilliantly recorded by JSoM recording artists in Auer Hall.
